Destroying and Rebuilding Altars

What does type and shadow mean? The Lord uses much of the Old Testament to teach us through what I call “type and shadow.” Naturally speaking, it is a metaphor for a lesson we are to utilize today.
Our type and shadow…
(Judges 6:25) And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:
(Judges 6:26) And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.

God is telling us to destroy the altars in our life which are not of Him and build an altar to the Lord right there in it’s place.

What is an altar in our life? In other words, it is what we are we putting ahead of God in our lives? We can lie to ourselves that God comes first, but if you choose your own desires over God’s will, then you are lying to yourself.
In the Scriptures, Judges 6:25 & 26, Gideon was told to tear down the altars of Baal (built by his father, who was supposed to be a Christian) and replaced them with an altar to the Lord. For us today, He is telling us to remove the evil produced by wrong and evil seeds and plant some new seeds which are in the will and way of the Lord. It is a new altar. It is the right altar which will produce the manifestation of God’s will in our lives.

Our battle is in the mind…it is in our thinking that we build strongholds…or altars to the enemy…
(2 Corinthians 10:3) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
(2 Corinthians 10:4) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;)
(2 Corinthians 10:5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

It is what you allow to stay in your mind that will control you…
(Proverbs 23:7a) For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…

Kenneth Hagin, Sr had a saying, “The birds are going to fly over, but you don’t have to let them build a nest in your hair.”

Living in Him, and Him in you definitely is about your thought life first…
(John 15:7) If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Who are the gods? (Little g) They are God’s children who are now walking against His Word…
(Psalms 82:1) A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.

To judge unjustly=accept the wrong things…and people who are clearly working for the devil whether they realize it or not?…
(Psalms 82:2) How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. (Selah=pause & think)

Some people claim to be working for God, when everything that comes out of their mouth says something else altogether…You cannot be a Christian and speak all kinds of things that do not line up with His will for you…
(James 3:10) Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

You have a choice and you have to continually make it…
(Deuteronomy 30:19) I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

My question to you tonight is===Have we been prophesying for the helpless, poor, fatherless, afflicted and needy?
(Psalms 82:3) Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.

Have we been tearing down the wrong altars for others and building the right one?
(Psalms 82:4) Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked

Even for those who don’t understand, we have to prophesy right things over them…
(Psalms 82:5) They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
(Psalms 82:6) I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

This is an except from a prophesy given by well known prophet Kim Clement this month…
The Spirit of God says, “do you understand that My voice must be heard? They can shout it to the atmosphere and none may listen, but my word must go forth. Let prophets prophesy.” But God said, “My work will break the snare and the power of the enemy. This Nation has stood the test, and I will not allow them to insult you” God said.

We are made in God’s image…he spoke and created in Geneses 1…we were given the authority to create just like He did…We are to speak…Our words are seeds…
(Genesis 1:26) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

These scriptures are about the wisdom of speaking right words to help us to head the wisdom of the Word and not the failures of the flesh…
(Proverbs 23:12) Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.

(Ecclesiastes 10:12) The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.

(Isaiah 51:16) And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

(Isaiah 59:21) As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and forever.

(Jeremiah 1:9) Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

(Jeremiah 3:12) Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger forever.

(Jeremiah 5:14) Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

(Jeremiah 18:2) Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

(Jeremiah 23:36) And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.

(Ezekiel 12:28) Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD.
